Background information.

Born and raised in the midwest, but do not like it here. My parents are split with one side of the family from the south and the other from a very largest city in Illinois.

Specifically I have family scattered in the Carolinas, but mostly in the lowlands of South Carolina. I have been there many times through my life. I adore SC and NC.

My UG is in the north. Not very prestigious unless TTT is a prestige. I am also coming straight from there.

I am not without debt.

I figure that if I can land a job paying around $55,000 I can live comfortably coming out of Wake.

I have a marginally better chance at making more from SMU (though I've truthfully only ever been to Dallas once).

I have a marginally better chance at makin more from Emory (only been there once, but Atlanta is a big city and would probably be more forgiving).




And the alternative? You decide? French foreign legion, I think. Oui oui.

Where do you want to live and practice? Do you have any idea?

Ideally, Charleston or Charlotte. I like those two cities the best. Charleston is located in probably the most insular state in the country and thus would be an uphill battle despite the fact that I've spent a lot of time there specifically and know the city quite well.

I've been to Charlotte fewer times, but really like the city and its metropolitan enough for my SO to enjoy.

So in the Carolinas, but after that my preferences are as follows:

Atlanta
Chicago
DC/Virginia
Texas (Dallas specifically)

But it isn't so much where you want to practice as it is where can you practice, for me. My biggest concern is that, though I can express reasons for wanting to be in the region in a cover letter, they'll look at my UG on my resume and say no. Wondering what my chances are of even landing 1L summer work in North Carolina. I'm extraordinarily afraid of insularity, though I've known for quite some time that I want to live in that area of the country.

I thought dollar signs meant this:

$ = 0-10k
$$ = 10k - 20k
$$$ = 20k - 30k
$$$$ = 30k - 40k



No stipulations for any of these. Stipulations are out of fashion now, I think.

Yes. Also outside scholarship of about $5k, though this goes wherever I go. I'm mostly sure this is what I'm going to be doing.
