Tulane 10K scholarship/year vs Illinois 23k scholarship/yr
Law Specialty: I am not sure what type of law I want to practice (but I am interested in international law)
Location: I would be fine with either as I have lived in both extremely cold and warm places.
What is important to me are (not necessarily in order of importance); 1) job prospects, 2)domestic and international reputation of the school (this question pertains to the school's reputation of being able to place students in particular areas both including the US and abroad), 3) quality of education, 4) price, 5) Social life
Thanks a lot guys. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to laugh and smile.

Illinois seems to be the obvious choice. However, the Illinois scholarship offer may get Tulane to reconsider & offer a more generous scholarship.
P.S. Many expect Illinois to fall about 10 spots in the USNews rankings--so don't base your decision on rankings. Consider total COA & where you want to live & work after law school.

1) Mediocre at best from either school. Do you have plausible ties to either region?KnowledgeIsTheAnswer wrote: 1) job prospects, 2)domestic and international reputation of the school (this question pertains to the school's reputation of being able to place students in particular areas both including the US and abroad), 4) price,
2) Negligible national reputation at either. They are regional schools.
4) Neither is worth the price after cost of living is added with those scholarships.
Why are these the only options?

Tulane doesn't negotiate.
I calculated the Cost of Attendance of both schools and Illinois is 126$ and Tulane is 156$. Also, why do many speculate that Illinois will drop in the rankings?

Illinois law falsified LSAT & GPA numbers. For example, Illinois' reported median LSAT was 168 when, in fact, it was 163.

I think they'll still be T30ish. Either way, Illinois at lower cost >>> Tulane unless you only want to work in (where's Tulane?)CanadianWolf wrote:Illinois law falsified LSAT & GPA numbers. For example, Illinois' reported median LSAT was 168 when, in fact, it was 163.

UIUC I guess, but you're not gonna do "international law."

Those seem a little high for COA, but regardless, I'd say neither one. That is way, way too much money to spend on a law degree that isn't a T14. I am looking at 80-90k from WUSTL and I thank my lucky stars every day that it is probably going to work out with my current job, but if I were jobless (as most of my classmates are) I would be furious at my decision.KnowledgeIsTheAnswer wrote:I calculated the Cost of Attendance of both schools and Illinois is 126$ and Tulane is 156$.
