2013 US News & World Report Law School Rankings
Administrator note: 2013 rankings have been released. See: http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 1&t=178748
Two quick questions:
1. Does anyone know when the 2013 US News & World Report Law School Rankings will be released?
2. Is there a site that tracks how the various law schools have shifted in the US News rankings over the past few years? I recall that there was such a site for undergrad school rankings.
Thanks.

It doesn't really matter. It's top 14, top 25, then tiers. No one cares if Georgetown becomes 13 and if Cardozo becomes 60. It doesn't matter.paradox wrote:Two quick questions:

I hope this being in the "Choosing a Law School" forum doesn't mean there are actually people waiting for the new rankings so they can use it to decide where to attend..

What the hell is top 17? Is this like UCLA trying to pretend it's special?johansantana21 wrote:FTFYDoorkeeper wrote:Fixed for elitist's sake.AriGoldButNicer wrote:It doesn't really matter. UCLA/Vandy/Tex traditionally have big firm and clerkship placement noticeably better than Woostle/GW/BC/BU etc.

y > h/s > t14 > best school in city where you want to practice. i.e. washington over vandy for seattle, etc..usnews changes school order periodically to validate its existence. Bottom line, your potential oci interviewer is not going to split hairs between the #18 ranked school and #42.

When is the Class of 2011's employment data released? We're just about at the nine month mark.

Well, considering they have to collect the data AFTER the 9 month mark, I'd say we have another couple of months to wait.mrtoren wrote:When is the Class of 2011's employment data released? We're just about at the nine month mark.

I can't imagine it would take them long to compile it.

While it may be true that picking a school in your city makes sense after a certain point, there is certainly a noticeable difference in BigLaw placement between 18 (~29%) and 42 (~11%). Even if you weren't completely off base with his school year, it doesn't take a law student to look at numbers.

What are the 'tiers' after top 25? Like 26-100 is Tier 1? Always wondered this.

Well, tier 1 is the top 50 schools (not sure why you designated t25 as that doesn't really mean anything). Tier 2 is 51-100, and tiers 3 and 4 fall after that.goldeneye wrote:What are the 'tiers' after top 25? Like 26-100 is Tier 1? Always wondered this.

Re: 2013 US News & World Report Law School Rankings
Last year USNWR changed their tiers, so that 1-100 are Tier 1 and 101-200+ are Tier 2, and all schools get numbered ranks instead of just 1-100, but this is clearly retarded, so we ignore it.InGoodFaith wrote:Well, tier 1 is the top 50 schools (not sure why you designated t25 as that doesn't really mean anything).
