Law School or Masters Program? Forum

I know that I want to be a lawyer. I am twenty years old and graduating in June with a 3.21. My LSAT Score was 155. I am aiming for Southern California schools or Seattle U. I plan to go for the big scholarship possible my first year and try the transfer route. I attend Central Washington University now and I have the option to TA while doing a masters program studying Soviet History. Tuition plus housing will be paid for. The program will require me to study Russian for two years (Most graduates understand Russian better than Russian undergrad majors). Which should I choose? I hate the location (weather) of my the masters program and love California. Thanks!

I would do the Master's program and read as much Dostoyevski as possible. I'm extremely jealous of you. Relying on a transfer isn't a good idea, the other posters are right that you should study for the LSAT, kill it, then profit

No. Fluency in Russion, may help on the document review circuit though.

Seriously, you are only 20. Live life. Join the Peace Corps, go to Army OCS and spend a few years as an officer, etc. Whatever you do, don't make a life altering decision by taking out toxic debt for a TTT law degree.

Yeah the job of Russian History lawyer is really in demand right now.

Getting the masters is completely worthless and you could work at McDonalds for 2 years and it would have the same effect on your future legal prospects. The important thing is to not go to law school until you get a better LSAT.

You've got that right. Seattle U. is notorious for the "section stacking" of scholarship winners. Most scholarship winners get dumped into a single session. It's a pressure cooker and at the end of the day, most lose their scholarships thanks to the curve.

Seattle U. is one of the last places to consider for law school. The ethics of their administration are disgraceful - and that's saying quite a ot given the games that are played in the law school scam.

As for myself, if I hadn't already started wouldn't do it with other opportunities on the table. But, I'm just a beginner (1L). I "should" have went to U.S. Marshals, ATF & E, or ICE.
