UCLA full scholly vs. Stanford at sticker
Tried searching because I thought somebody must have asked a similar question, but I didn't find anything. If somebody wanted to live and work on the west coast, which would they choose? This is not my decision. I haven't taken the LSAT yet. I would love to be faced with this decision, but I know it probably won't happen. Regardless, I am curious what people would choose when faced with this option.
Stanford is awesome of course and has the best employment prospects in Cali, but is one of the most expensive if not the most expensive law schools to attend, so even with a really good-paying job it would take awhile to pay off all that debt.
Vs. UCLA graduating with significantly less debt due to full-ride tuition, but employment prospects are not nearly as good as Stanford (though still better than most other law schools in Cali).

Stanford is probably a better long run option for most students, even though it would be much more expensive. Employment in a good law firm is a very likely possibility out of Stanford, regardless of your class rank. The same simply can't be said of UCLA, although most UCLA graduates do just fine for themselves. Some certainly end up unemployed and in piles of debt. Others, who accepted a full ride, end up unemployed but with no debt. Still not a very good situation, you just wasted 3 years of your life.
It depends on your level of debt aversion I would say. Also, if you can cover your own cost of living, that would help. $0 debt if you pay for your own cost of living is a lot different than $60k debt if you need loans.
UCLA could be option if you're very scared of debt. Otherwise, you're probably better off at Stanford. You'll be in debt, but you'll be able to pay it off.

Stanford.
I think the chance to go to an elite school like that really trumps the debt consideration. Also, you almost certainly will not want for at least some gainful employment. More likely you will have great options.

Ask again in March if you are actually deciding this.

This seems like a silly comparison. With such numbers, wouldn't you get a substantial scholarship offer at Boalt? That seems like the way to go if you're worried about debt.

I think Stanford is clearly the TCR in this situation.
That being said, silly hypotheticals are kind of a waste of time.

Why even worry about this if you didn't even have the offer(s)?

ITT: 0Ls with no debt overlook the stressful nature of debt and focus on pristifous Stanford.
