"Rule" in that context sounds like a scientific law or something.

Can everybody please indicate which school they're either currently attending or planning on attending, so I can pick out the valid arguments from the invalid ones?

When did sticker at Penn become debatable? Am I missing something here? It's Penn, not Virginia

What? Plenty of TLSers are paying sticker for MVP, but I think they would acknowledge that, pre 1L, they are taking somewhat of a risk.NYC Law wrote:When did sticker at Penn become debatable? Am I missing something here? It's Penn, not Virginia

I'm annoyed because you think you're opinion, whatever the hell that may be (sorry, I don't spend 4 hours/day on TLS, so haven't read through all 10,000 *poastings* [as you call them] you've made), is superior to whatever about my comments is so blatantly stupid to you. So actually comment instead of *rolling your eyes* without contributing to the thread.Grizz wrote:u mad im calling you out for terrible poastings?weejonbu wrote:I really don't care how many posts you have on TLS. There's always risk, but as far as paths to making $100k+ in less than 10 years, attending Penn law is one of the least risky routes.ndirish2010 wrote:What? Agreed. But when the alternative is 100K less debt at a good school, there is room for debate. I have stated that I would choose Penn in this situation, but I don't think it is a slam dunk.NYC Law wrote:There's always risk, but as far as paths to making $100k+ in less than 10 years, attending Penn law is one of the least risky routes.ndirish2010 wrote:What? Fair enough, but I think you underestimate how many choose not to pursue big law in favor of clerkships/PI/Gov't. The percentage that has access to Biglaw should they choose is more likely closer to 75%ndirish2010 wrote:Agreed. I know the points others have made, and I've addressed them. Everyone is debt averse. No one wants to be in 6-digit debt to attend school. But if you're gonna sit there and tell me that Penn at sticker is not a great position to be in, especially when there are people on here who are pretty happy to be in the Top 40 at sticker, then either you're an elitist piece of trash or you're the type who would attend Ohio State full ride over Michigan at sticker. There's a point where being debt averse keeps you from thinking clearly about the opportunistic value that going to X school has.

Would you children grow up and exit the thread?
The answer is UPenn. Check the the boards, I'm the Boston University salesman on this TLS, and even I say it. I don't even think it is that close a call.
You are still looking at 6 figures debt at Boston University, your $90,000 is just unrealistic, I am on the same scholarship and I'll be lucky to get out under $120,000. At the end of the day, you are fucked unless you make it in BigLaw or something else high paying. It isn't like you can just shuffle off with $100,000 debt and do something public interest. Go to UPenn where, even though you'll owe more money, you'll have a better chance of paying it. Their LRAP isn't a joke like ours is either, so you have a saftey net.

Unless I really wanted to practice in Columbus, and Columbus only, I would obviously choose Michigan sticker over OSU full ride. Go check out last year's OCI results thread if you don't believe that median at Penn is a scary place to be.weejonbu wrote:Once again, "I've made 10,000 posts, I really don't have to answer the question" -- great response, I wish life worked that way.Grizz wrote: If you don't get what everyone else has been saying to you, I'm not sure I can help you duder

Exactly. That's why there is no "general rule." The career goals, etc., of every person are different. This is why I really don't know why people create polls in the first place, especially when it's this lopsided. Maybe it helps them ball up or something, I don't know.ndirish2010 wrote:Unless I really wanted to practice in Columbus, and Columbus only, I would obviously choose Michigan sticker over OSU full ride. Not really though, because if the person got into Michigan, they'd likely have big money at T25s and possibly money at places like Vandy and Texas. Then it would be debatable. But not with OSU.weejonbu wrote:Exactly. That's why there is no "general rule." The career goals, etc., of every person are different. Well, that was unexpected.
Now the question is how can get out of your lease/how much do you lose and can you find a new place in Philly in time?
