All you Madison residents...
So I'm trying to figure out some kind of budget for this fall, and im wondering if there is any Wisconsin students (or anyone living in Madison I guess) that could shed some light on how much utilities tend to run. Think 2 ppl in 1 bedroom, electric, internet, gas, water, etc...Thanks for any help!

Depends on how close to campus you want to live. There's great places near West Towne Mall that are relatively cheap, but it's a 20 min drive or so. The places near campus are kinda crappy except for a select few (off the top of my head, Lucky is a very nice apartment). However, my advice is get an apartment ASAP if you want to live near campus. They go fast.
...this post was kinda useless w/o prices. my bad.

You can find the average energy costs for your unit or other comparable units in your building by typing in the address to Madison Gas & Electric's average cost predictor (http://www.mge.com/myaccount/averagecost/). That should give you an idea for your actual unit, though it will obviously be affected by the previous renter's habits. On the whole, the average energy per month for a one bedroom tends to be in the $35-75 range. High speed internet costs about $30 per month with Charter. I'm not sure how much the cheaper options are (Charter is the cable company). I can't speak to water costs because my old apartment covered it.
