Vanderbilt vs UVA

Post by nezumi » Mon Jul 18, 2011 5:57 pm

Without giving too many details, what is the general consensus on this:

Assuming I apply ED day 1 for next years cycle at UVA and get in would that be worth giving up Vanderbilt with $20k/year this cycle?

i'm not, it's a hypothetical. but if waiting a year on uva is a bad idea with the assumption of admission, then waiting a year just for the chance of admission is definitely a bad idea.

I'm not going to vote without more information. Different decisions are better for different people.

Nope.

While I definitely agree with your analysis, I'm looking for an answer to the simpler question I asked without adding in some compounding factors that could completely dominate the issue at hand. I'm interested in measuring the value of a 1 year delayed UVA matriculation against a 20k/yr scholarship at Vanderbilt. I could say something like "I love country music and want to live in Nashville for the rest of my life" or "When I visited UVA I thought it was heaven on earth", but if either of those were the case why would I be here in the first place?

Almost irrelevant for the question asked, but:

LSAT>170, 3.25<GPA<3.5

When you ask for advice and a vacuum and don't tell anyone about yourself or your goals or your life, what did you expect?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
