Villanova (full ride) vs Temple (partial scholarship)
Hey everyone and thank you for your help in advance.
I just received a phone call from Villanova offering me a full ride (no gpa stipulation renewable each year). I have already made my deposit at Temple and with a small scholarship from them the tuition is about 18k a year. I have the money already to pay for Temple so no loans would have to be taken out.
I am honestly at a loss and don't know which school to choose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

These are essentially peer schools, so you should go with the money. However, if you really prefer Temple, send them an email about the Villanova offer and see if they up your scholly. If you prefer Temple and the $ difference (over 3 years) is within 30k or so, then go with your gut.

Go to Villanova. No question about it. Both are regional schools and you will likely have similar opportunities in the Philadelphia region if you are at a similar rank. Marjorie Rendell transferred from Georgetown to Villanova and she did just fine. Save your $$$, take the free ride.

I think Villanova's reputation took a bit of a hit on TLS after that scandal from USNWR was reported. However, I doubt Philly firms care about this. These are peer schools and you'll be going for cheap/no debt. I would go with Nova, but as the previous poster said you may be able to get some more out of Temple if you prefer to be in the city rather than on the Main Line.

Just wanted to add one little part that I forgot. I am 100% hell bent on working and living in the Philadelphia area. Not sure if that makes much of an impact. I'm basically concerned that I would be paying 60k at Temple and getting nothing more than I would have gotten at Nova.
Thanks for all the replies already and for any more that I may get

I have a question: what's so great about Philly?

Rising 2L at Villanova here. Absolutely come to Nova. Temple and Villanova place identically in the city.
Also, the school hasn't taken a measurable hit from the scandal. Our OCI is essentially identical to Temple's.

I would go with Nova...they both place well in Philly, and even if you have a hard time getting a job, you'll have money to fall back on.

You should go to Villanova with the full ride. Like others have said, the two schools are peer schools, so this choice should be an easy one.
FWIW, I wasTHISCLOSE to going to Villanova until I was accepted by FSU. I visited both Villanova & Temple. Villanova's law school building is an amazing, state of the art facility with a fabulous community of people.
