University of Kentucky vs University of Baltimore

Post by Ademae » Tue Jul 05, 2011 4:34 pm

Hey guys I need some input on my current situation.

I have to decided what school and what city would be better to be for the next 3 years of my life. University of Baltimore (offered me no money) has a good reputation in Maryland, however the city of Baltimore is literately a dump. University of Kentucky has offer me a nice $ 15k a year for 3 years but I haven't been able to visit Lexington KY and learn more about the city. If any of you guys were in my position which one would you choose? Please don't tell me to reapply or raise my Lsat because at this point I cant wait another year.

Thank you so much for your responses in advance!

Kentucky, but which law school I would select is not relevant to your decision. You need to decide whether you want to live & work in the Baltimore area or in Kentucky. Try to visit, if feasible. If you visit Baltimore, venture out to Annapolis & other nearby areas before deciding. Do you like boating & the ocean or are you a horse person ?

If you absolutely can't retake, UK for sure. Nobody should pay sticker to attend Baltimore. UK is the best law school in the state and is actually a pretty good deal. However, I don't understand why you "can't" wait another year.

UK. Lexington's a great city. I drive down there all the time for concerts and shopping.

I know a lot of people who love Louisville. But, if you select Kentucky, you need to know how to pronounce the name of the state capitol. Many think "Louie-ville", while others argue for "Lewis-ville". My opinion is completely different, however.

Well technically it should be "Lewis-ville" if it is "St. Lewis."

UK is the stronger regional school, you got a scholly offer from them, and you called Baltimore a dump. I think you answered your own question.

I live near Lexington. UK Law is very highly regarded in the state. I'm not sure if you want to work elsewhere, however, that that would be the case.

Lexington is a great medium-sized city. You have all the amenities of a large city in a friendlier layout, though traffic is killer.

Horses are not the center of life here. I don't know anyone who owns a horse or even goes to races regularly. Only the very very wealthy and only a few of them are involved in horses.

Basketball is king in Lexington. Visit Rupp once and you'll be hooked.

UK is a great school and is priced well. Kentucky is a great place to live and Lexington is a very nice city. I would recommend UK unless you just want to practice in Maryland.

Why is it so important to know how to pronounce the name of the building that houses the state legislature?

UK for sure. But what about stipulations because I believe you can't become a resident after 1L.
