Vanderbilt w/35k vs Duke sticker

Post by nezumi » Mon May 30, 2011 8:02 pm

Just as the title says, Vanderbilt w/35k total vs Duke with nothing. What do you think? Markets seem more or less the same, Duke having a little more portability, but both more focused on the south. Duke seems to be a slightly "better" version of Vanderbilt. Is the 35k enough to offset?

Duke is not worth $100,000+ more than Vanderbilt. It's not.

Where do you want to work?

its 35k total at Vanderbilt, not per year.

I will be following the money, wherever that takes me with a slight preference for the South.

What do you want to do in the South? Biglaw?

I think I'd take Duke. Vandy is still pretty expensive even with $35k, so I'd go with the school that has better employment since costs, though a little different, are still very high at both schools.

Oh eh...they're both too expensive. Flip a coin?

Who is saying that Duke and Vandy have similar biglaw prospects? They don't. Duke places better than Vandy in the South, and in NYC/DC Duke places far better, just look at the NLJ 250 placement stats. Do Duke, the 35K difference just isn't enough.

Duke is the right choice here.

That said, how much $ do people think Vandy would need to cough up to break even with Duke at sticker?
