University of Washington D.C. Law School?

Post by Tainted_Praise » Wed May 11, 2011 11:07 pm

My friend was bragging about getting into here a couple of weeks ago... Is it a good school? I've never even heard of it.

No. They're not even on the totem pole for DC.

Are you talking about UDC David A. Clarke? It has a write-up on this site.

It is the most affordable law school in the DC area.

If that is the case, then it is a school that more people have heard if. But this school is definitely not on the affordable side.

edit: opps... I had ment this as a response when you were referring to American.

Yea it is by far the lowest but you have to question whether it's worth it considering that opportunities will not be that good for UDC grads. It's not a matter of getting a job to pay off debt but a question of whether a job is attainable to actually practice law and move up in the profession.

In part, it depends on what someone wants from life. I suspect that UDC will not open doors the GULC or GW will open, but it does give someone a legitimate shot at sitting for the Bar and becoming an attorney. Seeing that their bar passage rate has come up to a respectable level over the last few years, this is a legitimate option for someone who wants to become an attorney and wishes to avoid accumulating a deep pile of debt.

Sure some of the more renowned schools have loan forgiveness options and there is the federal loan programs (until they get dismantled in budget fights). But there is something to be said for being able to dodge the debt in the first place, thus not needing to bend your career around someone else's arbitrary rules. Is this the right call for everyone, no. For some people it may make sense.

I live in the Washington DC metropolitan area and I had never heard of the University until I read this post.
