**EDIT** BC $$$ v. Fordham $$$
So my ultimate concern is biglaw prospects (no way!). Even though I'm from NYC I don't mind working in Boston. What's the best move? I'm getting 75k over three years from BC and 30k from Fordham. Would your answer change if money was equal? I would appreciate any input.
***EDIT***
Thank you for your thoughts guys. The situation has just shifted. Fordham threw an extra 60k my way. So as it stands, COA I think is just about equal.. what to do? This is turning into a much tougher decision then I had originally anticipated. I would definitely prefer to work (maybe not study) in NY, but biglaw prospects is priority numero uno. HELP!
Poll is edited to reflect new $ and votes can now be changed.

BC all day and all night and probably half of the morning after.
Not unless Fordham were offering six figures would this vote start to even up. BC is cheaper to begin with, is offering more money, and is a bit better. BTW, we have matching scholarships at Beee Ceee. Congrats!

If you are from NYC and want to stay, go to Fordham. It places well considering the fact that it is competing against two of the top national schools which happen to be down the street. Also, you will have a shot at Big Law if you make some good grades. If you want to get out of NYC and don't mind working outside of the city, BC is probably the best option. But, BC (like Fordham) is difficult to get Big Law from. Tough choice.

First, don't go to Fordham over BC especially if you got more $$$ from BC. Second, this is not a tough choice.whereto4law wrote:If you are from NYC and want to stay, go to Fordham. BC places well in both of your target markets, has better overall biglaw placement, and doesn't cost you anything extra. Enjoy Boston.

Even with the extra scratch, BC is still TCR

I guess I'm surprised by this...at equal money, if you know you want NYC I would take Fordham. In my circumstances I chose BC over Fordham but I preferred BC and was getting more money so it seemed like an easy decision. At equal cost though, I don't know what I would have done.JamMasterJ wrote:Even with the extra scratch, BC is still TCR
I know this isn't helpful, but I'm just interested as to why the consensus seems to be BC.

Re: **EDIT** BC $$$ v. Fordham $$$
Because if Biglaw prospects are "numero uno," and cost is equal-ish, our votes go with the school with higher biglaw placement. BC has other things going for it as well, such as higher prestige and a better LRAP - though LRAP isn't really a factor for "biglaw or bust" people. Both are great schools, but at equal cost most people will tell you to go to BC unless there is a HUUUUGEEE desire for NY, which doesn't seem to be the case.

BC has better biglaw placement than Fordham does and OP is biglaw or bust.Perch wrote:I guess I'm surprised by this...at equal money, if you know you want NYC I would take Fordham. I voted BC becuase BC places better than Fordham. But, if you could live rent free for 3 years I think Fordham would be the winner.aaaaaah wrote:Does being from NY = free rent?

Also consider that BC gets you access to Boston and NY, while Fordham only gets you access to NY?

Re: **EDIT** BC $$$ v. Fordham $$$
this is my thinking as well, though I assume NYC firms will consider students deeper into the class at Fordham- you'd have to shine more at BC to get back to NY I assume. Also, some of the top firms (ie. Cravath) don't do OCI at BC while they do go to Fordham, so at least you have a shot out of Fordham.kurla88 wrote:Also consider that BC gets you access to Boston and NY, while Fordham only gets you access to NY?

This just isn't accurate. NYC biglaw hires way more summer associates than Boston biglaw. In my experience, Boston biglaw is actually harder to get than NYC biglaw because of numbers.Perch wrote:this is my thinking as well, though I assume NYC firms will consider students deeper into the class at Fordham- you'd have to shine more at BC to get back to NY I assume. And I'm not sure that anyone going to either Fordham or BC should be concerned about Cravath. The odds are simply not in your favor at either school.
Edit: OP should be talking to BC to up the scholarship in light of the revised Fordham numbers. If BC needs OP for various GPA/LSAT metrics, they are likely to up the offer.

Cravath does OCI at BU/BC and Fordham. Looks like BU/BC is combined, tho. Agree that no one should be worried about Cravath unless they are HYS tho haha

1. I don't know and I'm going off what I remember, but I don't think this is true and if it is, you must mean at the BU/BC offcampus eventcrit_racer wrote:Cravath does OCI at BU/BC and Fordham. 2. Loved the two Cravath associates at Fordham ASW. Odds seemed good to me
Edit: for crit racer

Yeah it may be an off campus event, I'm not sure. It's on their website.
Depends on your definition of good odds. I don't think having two alumni Cravath associates at ASW means much, tho.
