USD w/ $$$ vs. Loyola w/ $$ vs. UCI w/ $
I'm choosing between:
USD w/ $38,000/yr. (it drops down if I'm out of the top 33%)
Loyola w/ $29,000/yr. (Stipulated for top 33%)
UC Irvine w/ 40% tuition and fees.
I'm interested in environmental and entertainment law (divergent I know) and I currently live in San Diego. Interested to hear everyone's take on the situation.

You need a poll.
Also, is the 40% scholly have a GPA stipulation like the others?
Also, have you negotiated for stips to be removed, or for $$$ to increase?

I negotiated with UC Irvine to go from 33% of tuition and fees to 40%, but I haven't tried that tactic with Loyola yet, or USD, for that matter.

I'd probably take UCI since you are more likely to lose your USD/Loyola scholly's than you are to keep them.
UCI is still going to cost you around 140k and I don't think that is worth it but it is okay I guess and way better than the USD/Loyola options due to stipulations.

Do that and get back to us.
Then we will have a much better idea what is up.
Don't forget to see if they will drop the GPA stips. Those suck.

maybe youll get more money, but youre not getting rid of the stips at USD or Loyola, which is the deal breaker, IMO. I think UCI is the best option out of these 3

Re: USD w/ $$$ vs. Loyola w/ $$ vs. UCI w/ $
So after trying to negotiate, nothing has really changed. Just to let you know though, the USD scholly is as follows: renewable at 38,000 if in the top third, renewable at 18,000 if between the 34th and 50th percentile, and if below the 50th percentile it is renewable at 10,000. So it's not really an all-or-nothing top third stip as at Loyola.
As far as cost of attendance, I currently live in San Diego, so I'd be able to commute from home and save money on rent and food, making the total cost of attendance, at least for the first year, approximately $53,205 (http://www.sandiego.edu/law/financial_a ... d_fees.php).
Loyola's estimated cost of attendance: $67,882 (http://www.lls.edu/admissions/finaid/)
UCI's estimated cost of attendance: $60,904-$67,283 (http://www.law.uci.edu/financial_aid/co ... ctive.html)(http://reg.uci.edu/fees/2011-2012/law.html) This is a range based on the different on-campus housing options at Irvine.

I'll change my vote to USD.
