University of San Diego worth it for me?

Post by ijusttorted » Wed Apr 27, 2011 1:15 pm

Hey all. So I'm married with a kid and have not received any scholly money from San Diego. We would love to make San Diego our home however. Does paying sticker at the University of San Diego seem worth it?

I'll most likely be going to USD in the fall. Honestly though, if they haven't given any financial aid, you'll ultimately be paying about 195K for the three years. If you don't have a better option pricewise, USD is the best for getting into the SD legal market.

Yeah that 195k figure scares me. Ever heard of people negotiating for a need-based grant or scholly?

I negotiated. Before I ever got my financial aid letter, I sent them an email about how USD is my #1, and how I have another offer from a better school with money, and explained the cost-of-living differences + I attached a pdf copy of my financial letter for the other school. About a week later, I got a letter for 23K for the first year (which isn't as awesome as getting money for all three years, but at least it's guaranteed with no gpa stip and for the 2nd and 3rd years, I can strive for a rank-based scholly).
