Need more info

1. Are these scholarships for tuition and housing costs in 1L?
2. Are there GPA requirements to keep them?
3. What is estimated loan debt at each one?
4. Where do you want to actually practice law?

1/2. These scholarships are all for tuition. The stipulations at Villanova and Hofstra are staying in the top 40% of the class. The stipulations for St Johns and Penn State are staying in the top 50%. No GPA requirements per se.

3. Estimated loans: Villanova - under 130k, Penn State - under 130k, Brooklyn - 210k, St Johns - 70/80k, Hofstra - 50/60k
(For Hofstra and St Johns I would be able to live at home and commute.)

4. I am kind of open to practicing in or near NYC, Philly, or DC. I grew up in NYC, so that is the logical choice, but I love both other cities and would be happy in either location.

Thanks for the input!

Take the lowest debt option out of these. Be prepared to graduate without a job lined up.

If you could commute to st.johns/hofstra, I would reconsider your ability to commute to brooklyn.

Agreed. Your answer is Hofstra or St Johns because you can live at home.

By the way, this is what I did. I went to Brooklyn and lived at home because I did not want to take out loans for a degree from American, Case Western, or Villanova. I was able to graduate with very little debt (I will be done with my student loan payments in 1 year)' and inwas able to accept lower paying attorney jobs because my debt levels were manageable.

A commute to Brooklyn would be rather difficult. 3 hours total every day. Brooklyn would be my first choice if it was a feasible commute :?

Penn State places moreso in central PA than Philly, FYI.

Brooklyn/Temple OOS sticker are most certainly not worth the debt.

Try to get the Hofstra, Villanova, & St. John's stips removed if you want NYC/Philly.

Don't worry about the stips. If you don't make top 40% at those schools you might as well drop out and cut your losses.
