My real concern is if people whose names I mentioned are uncomfortable about it, but so far none of them are.

@piccolittle: Thanks for the positive review. Turns out a friend of mine who works at my law firm submitted it to ATL and she convinced me to make it public again after I discovered my mistake. Just gonna let it ride, awkwardness and all

...seriously? Duce is a little awkward, but he's on video (which makes you look awkward if you aren't doing hard cuts). And just a little awkward.

There is nothing in this video that makes me think he'll do poorly at OCI.

But why post a video on youtube that's gonna make you look like you have the social skills of Milton Waddams? I think it was a poor move on Duce's part.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't have posted something like this. But he's also not on TLS (well now he is), probably didn't realize how small and vicious the legal world is.

@Duce: If I was you I would make that video private.

There is a reason why we have TLS. It is so we don't have to say out loud that we have anxiety over choosing a law school. Everyone makes threads about freaking out over law school choices on TLS so they can act like normal human beings outside of these forums. It sounds absurd and elitist when you thank a bunch of people for helping you make your decision in a video.

I get the satire attempt but it was definitely a fail in that department. If you had gone over the top cheesy then this would have been funny but you made it too serious and real.

Hey guys, as Duce himself said, it was meant to be private. He did not intend for it to become a huge public spectacle. And what's the point of taking it down now? It's probably already spread across the Internet. It may or may not have been the most effective satire (only watched a part of it before being interrupted, and never finished), but come on... how would you feel if others jumped on every little tiny mistake or faux pas you committed (not that I'm necessarily saying that video was one).

If we're gonna start being mercilessly critical of one another, I'm going to say that I've found at least one egregious grammar error in this thread. And grammar is as important as social skills in the legal field.

Thanks for the support jrose, though honestly I'm not too worried about people "jumping" on me. It's a silly video that the people who I thanked in it have appreciated. Plus, I know that I'm somewhat awkward, so that's not news.

@power lawyer: The idea that it isn't OK to let people know that you are anxious over the law school application process seems kind of silly to me. Three years and $150k is a BIG commitment.

Honestly, it's not really a big deal. It's definitely not good/funny enough to generate enthusiasm, and it's not shitty/unaware enough to justify a hate thread. It just kind of... is. Granted, the dude comes off as more than a little awkward, and his attempt at humor falls flat. And if I was a future classmate, I'd definitely give him a few jabs about it. But then it would get old and we'd all forget about it, because it really isn't worth remembering. And I'm not sure why ATL put the spotlight on this video, but I've seen a lot better and a lot worse on youtube, and this is just kinda... meh.
