UIUC ($) V. LOYOLA CHICAGO ($) Forum

I am having a difficult time choosing between UIUC and Loyola Chicago. I have in-state tuition with a $15,000 a year scholarship at UIUC, and at Loyola I have a $21,000 a year scholarship. Because of the differences in tuition/cost of living I would end up with about the same amount of debt at both schools (that is if Loyola doesn’t raise tuition too much). My friends and family are in Chicago and I want to end up working there as well. I know UIUC is higher ranked, but are the job prospects really that much better than Loyola’s? I’ve been trying to interpret the data but I’m finding it difficult.

Also, there are no GPA stips for either school.

With roughly equivalent COA, go to UIUC. Both are regional schools. UIUC is a vastly superior regional school. This fact has nothing to do with the rankings.

UIUC for sure. Both are regional though and you can't expect biglaw from any of them.

I am from Chicago. UIUC is vastly superior to Loyola. This isn't even close if we're talking same CoA. If LUC was willing to up their offer at least 30-50k over 3 years then its a maybe.

As everyone else has said, UIUC > LUC by leaps and bounds. You'd be crazy to take LUC without a significant, significant scholarship over UIUC.

As everyone else has said, this is not close. UIUC might be regional, but Loyola has ONE location. And in that location, it is behind the entire T14 plus UIUC, ND, WUSTL, Minnesota, etc...even IU, OSU, Wisconsin, Iowa might all be better for Chicago, questionable though.
