Wisc vs. St Johns$$$ vs. Hofstra $$$
I'm having a lot of difficulty making a decision. I have little preference as to location, but there are of course pros and cons associated with each school that I am highly aware of. I am not retaking so I would appreciate anyone with that thought, keep it in your brain. The stips on both scholarships are top 40% and that is non-negotiable (I already tried). For both St Johns and Hofstra, I would be living at home, so that is another factor to take into consideration. I greatly appreciate any useful input.

Do you know what area you want to live in once you are finished?

That's pretty much my sentiment also. The only thing that is making me sway is the difference in debt, which is a very substantial amount. I'm definitely leaning towards Wisconsin though because I feel like the risk vs. reward balances out.patrickd139 wrote:pasnen22 wrote:nope. no preference in particularlukebyalibi wrote:Do you know what area you want to live in once you are finished?Where are you from (growing up, college, after college)?(just read the OP)

Are these your only options?
All three of these are horrible. Two because of their stipulations/reputations and one for its out of state tuition/difficulty getting instate tuition.

no. i also got into american and brooklyn at sticker and loyola chicago (12K scholly no stips). however, i have all but eliminated those options. I have a friend who is currently at Madison and was able to negotiate a 16000 scholarship during 1L and secured employment as a prospective student advisor which compensates him by paying his full OOS tuition. I know this is probably unlikely to duplicate, but he said he was actually in the lower half when he negotiated. Wisc explicitly states that if you are not in-state when you enter, you will never get it. I also went to Indiana for UG and have several connections in the general area, such as two Assistant US Attorneys, among others.Aberzombie1892 wrote:Are these your only options?

Probably because birdlaw is interested in reviving this topic but didn't want to start a redundant thread.tittsburghfeelers wrote:Why did you just "bump" on your first ever post?birdlaw22 wrote:bump

Wisconsin will place you well in Wisconsin and other parts of the Midwest with a tiny chance of major markets. St. Johns and Hofstra will give you a tiny chance at a legit job in NYC only, and very likely send you directly to shitlaw.
Go Wisconsin.
Go Wisconsin.

I voted for Hofstra. It gives you the least amount of debt.
