Pick the state you want to work in and go to the school in that state.

I pick Wake. Probably best employment outcomes and IMO NC and the south > Indiana or Wiscy.

The prestige differences aren't strong enough to choose one based on something other than location.red_alertz wrote:would u consider them peer schools or one of them is more prestigious than the others?bk187 wrote:Pick the state you want to work in and go to the school in that state.
If I had to rank them I'd say that W=W>B.

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
Theres no real prestige involved with these schools outside their states, but I think Wake and Wisc are on a slightly higher plane than IUb in terms of real outcomes. Wisc/Wake atleast hover around ~20% NLJ250 in good times while IUb rarely breaks 10%. Not a huge difference but it is a difference.

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
IUB is ranked higher, but based on a simple, albeit poor, metric (how many grads are making 6 figures), Wake > Wisconsin > Bloomington.red_alertz wrote:i just thought bloomington is at 23, much higher than wake at 39

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
i understand the whole concept of never entering law school assuming transfer, but just in case, would bloomington's rank allow the transfer process to be easier than wake? or if I do decide to move to a different location, say california, would bloomington's rank matter then?

I doubt that the differences between these schools is anything more than marginal for these 2 aspects.red_alertz wrote:i understand the whole concept of never entering law school assuming transfer, but just in case, would bloomington's rank allow the transfer process to be easier than wake? or if I do decide to move to a different location, say california, would bloomington's rank matter then?

Wisconsin. Normally I'd say Wake, but I think if you get your first job in Wisconsin, you don't have to take the bar.

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
why normally wake? i understand that bloomington is undisputed no.1 in indiana while wisconsin is no.1 in its state while wake sits at no.3 after elite duke, and UNC ranks higher as well

Being number one isn't the most important thing when you ignore the size of the legal markets in the area. UNLV is the best school in Nevada, but that doesn't make it a better school than the 3rd or 4th best school in California (USC/UCLA). Plus, most Duke kids leave NC.red_alertz wrote:why normally wake? i understand that bloomington is undisputed no.1 in indiana while wisconsin is no.1 in its state while wake sits at no.3 after elite duke, and UNC ranks higher as well

+1. A lot of stress off you if you don't need to study for the bar exam.snapdragon wrote:Wisconsin. Normally I'd say Wake, but I think if you get your first job in Wisconsin, you don't have to take the bar.

I would vote Wisconsin, but how are they on residency? Plus, not taking the bar/dealing with related expenses would be nice.
FYI, my 160/3.5 can't get into any of these schools so good job.

ND is the undisputed #1 in Indiana. Please stop looking at the rankings as a value indicator - they are absolutely worthless.red_alertz wrote:why normally wake? i understand that bloomington is undisputed no.1 in indiana while wisconsin is no.1 in its state while wake sits at no.3 after elite duke, and UNC ranks higher as well

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
I was thinking about this as well, but what if your boss down the road asks you to take another state's bar, because your firm is starting to get more work in other states. Wouldn't this just kick the can down the road?swilson215 wrote:+1. A lot of stress off you if you don't need to study for the bar exam.snapdragon wrote:Wisconsin. No because you don't have to simultaneously study for the bar and try to find a job in that case.EstboundNDwn wrote:I was thinking about this as well, but what if your boss down the road asks you to take another state's bar, because your firm is starting to get more work in other states. Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
hmm... why does bloomington have a lower percent in top large firms? when the schools ranks the same as illinois?

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
Because USNWR doesn't factor that into their rankings. Bloomington has been bleeding scholarship money to attract people with high GPAs/LSATs to raise their ranking.red_alertz wrote:hmm... why does bloomington have a lower percent in top large firms? when the schools ranks the same as illinois?
Indiana also has far fewer large firms than Illinois does so Bloomington is placing into a far smaller market with not nearly as many biglaw positions.

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
Well somehow Wisconsin and Wake outplace Bloomington into large firms so either their respective states have more large firm positions or they place people out of their state moreso than IUB.red_alertz wrote:does NC or Wisconsin offer a large number of large law firm positions? miwaulkee and winston-salem are probably smaller than indianapolis

Re: Wake vs wisconsin vs Bloomington?
wtf is this retarded ass shit "X TTT school outplaces Y TTT school". the very top students from any of those ttt schools have a shot at employment, the rest are fucked.
whatever difference there may be in employment prospects is so minor u shouldnt even consider it. visit the schools and see if u like the city, the people, etc. go where u think is the best environment for u to pwn grades.
