getting regional markets without ties from T14
What are the options besides NYC for a Texas resident who has misgivings about Texas?

Re: T14 and dislike home state
There's this city called Washington, DC, that I hear has a few law jobs. Could be a myth though.

For someone who makes top 20-30% at T10, DC could be an option. However, that does not address the question about getting regional markets to which one has no ties from a T14.ajcollege wrote:There's this city called Washington, DC, that I hear has a few law jobs. Could be a myth though.

Try to grovel for a 1L summer job in a random region and then try and somehow slang that region from OCI. Seems really difficult though.

I'm somewhat curious about this as well. Everyone says it's NYC/DC or your home market, but do they actually know of success/failures of people bidding on random places like Phoenix/Minneapolis/Pittsburgh/Miami or even CA w/o significant ties to those markets? It makes sense. I'm just curious if there is any anecdotal evidence to back it up.

How about Penn bidding on Chicago or Delaware or UVA bidding on Atlanta?
Since C is semi national and Delaware is in Penn's geographical region (firms come to OCI), it wouldn't be exactly the same as bidding on random markets.

This might work. lolDesert Fox wrote:You have a fiance in Chicago/LA/SF/N Virgina/Florida/where.
Of course, top law people often have incredible memories. What happens when you start working there and the associates/partners who interviewed you get to know you better?
Maybe you could just say he/she broke up with you thanks to the kickass hours you spent billing at the firm.
