DRUNK LAWLCAT POSTS.

"lower T14" is a stupid phrase. The T14 is the T14. Or perhaps more accurately, the T16 or whatever. All these CCN MVPB CNGD people are nuts. Yale is sparkly fairy-magic. Harvard and Stanford are pretty special, too. The rest of the T14(16/18/20) is not neatly divided up into USNWR rankings in the hiring realm.

You should've asked a closer question; I doubt anyone will advocate for, say, NU at sticker over UT for free.

If you got into HYSC, then you might have to move to the next prong of the analysis. Otherwise, enjoy UT.

Congrats!

If you're talking HYS, go to HYS.

Otherwise, go to UT. It's a great education to get with zero debt, and graduating debt-free will give you a lot more options than you might have otherwise. You'll have good employment options, and even if you end up taking relatively low-paying work, since you're graduating without debt you could afford to do so anyway.

I mean, UT is the right choice just on those facts alone. The low COL and the fact that you get to live in Austin for three (more?) years is the sweet buttercream icing on that cake.

Wow! I'm in exactly the same situation! I don't want to hijack the thread, but my situation is almost exactly the same!

I also have a $10K/year scholarship to UT + the Hazlewood Act free tuition vs. UPenn with Dean's Scholarship and maybe Michigan with unknown $$.

I really want to go to Penn, but since I'm not sure I want to live in NYC, then maybe UT is a better choice.

Ideally, I'd kill 1L at UT and transfer to HYSC. If I don't make top 10%, then that means I probably wouldn't have done well enough at UPenn to justify taking on the debt.

I am not speaking from experience but man. If I were you I would go to UT and not ever look back. And live the good life while I was there. Then go into any kind of law you want.

I'm excited for your wonderful choices! But to me it seems easy.

Thanks for your service.
