UVA vs BU w/$$
This might be a silly question, but I thought I'd pose it to all the TLSers out there. My mind was fairly made up to go to UVA (over Northwestern), but today I was offered $10K/year from BU. What do you guys think? Is it worth considering?

If you really love Boston and want to end up there, then BU. But I'd personally go with UVA since the scholarship difference isn't that huge (though the idea of sticker at UVA seems really scary to me, especially as an out of state student). If we were talking 20K a year from BU, then my answer would change. Try negotiating up with BU. They will be willing to listen.

if I'd go by the rankings below, I'd choose BU with money

Thanks, guys. I should mention that I'm in-state, so that helps a lot on UVA's tuition.

It helps some on UVA's tuition. But the fact you save 5K in-state and that Boston is a much more expensive city means the debt issue is pretty much a wash. At that point, you go to the better school, which is UVA. I'll see you on the diamond.

$15,000 over three years isn't anything to scoff at, IMO.HeavenWood wrote:This better be a flame.xtine wrote:Thanks, guys. I should mention that I'm in-state, so that helps a lot on UVA's tuition.
ETA: although it's not a dealbreaker.
