People who apply to non T-14s in a whole bunch of states
Whats up with that?
Do you really not care where you practice? Inquiring minds want to know.
Edit: Yes, I can understand why you would apply to Texas, Vandy, or UCLA.

I wouldn't mind practicing in multiple locations. I applied to UGA because it is in state, and I would enjoy Atlanta. I applied to Texas because I think I would enjoy Dallas/Houston. I applied to UCLA and USC because I think I would enjoy LA. I know you specifically excluded Texas, UCLA, and Vandy, but I only applied to those schools (and USC) outside of T14 besides my state school.

I care where I want to practice, I picked the 6 markets I want to work in most, Chicago, Boston, NYC, New Orleans, San Fran, and Atlanta and applied to schools near all of them.

I care a lot, but to me >$100k in debt is more worrisome than trying to crack into a different market. I am optimistic that doing well in a Tier 1 and putting in extra work + my connections will allow me to practice where I want to (AK/WA/CO).

UGA is pretty far from Atlanta...Pricer wrote:I wouldn't mind practicing in multiple locations. I applied to UGA because it is in state, and I would enjoy Atlanta. Fee waivers + application addiction = applying to non T-14 in random states

Some of us were raised in a cesspit (aka Florida) and just want to get out, with little concern for where.

Okay. Where do you think most UGA grads practice? (I'll give you a hint: It's Atlanta)dcgirl1013 wrote: UGA is pretty far from Atlanta...
Also, Athens isn't THAT far from the city.

Nevermind, I didn't realize you were talking about practicing in Atlanta after law school. I thought you were saying you would enjoy living/being in Atlanta during law school

No, I would not enjoy living in Atlanta during law school. The city (or any city of that size) is too expensive for me to feel comfortable living there on only loans. Athens is much cheaper and is a little over 50 miles away from Atlanta. That is my main opposition to going to UCLA and USC. I hear Austin is closer to Athens in regards to cost of living, and it has to be cheaper than LA.dcgirl1013 wrote:RockyIII wrote:Okay. Where do you think most UGA grads practice? Some of us are splitters. If we miss the T-14, our choices are midwest or TTT. So we migrate to the midwest in a massive trail of splitter tears.

I primarily cared about the region. So I applied to 9 T14s, and then 10 others. Of those others, two were UT and Vandy. One was University of Idaho because my Dad told me he'd pay for my Harvard App if I applied to one safety. The rest were in Cali or the PacNW because the state doesn't matter so much so long as I'm in the region.Veyron wrote:Whats up with that?

Now. Why I applied to Notre Dame, William & Mary or UMN I have no idea. But, when it comes to spending $36, applying to schools I'll never go to is better than buying crack or something.

They could also be useful for scholarship negotiations.lisjjen wrote:I primarily cared about the region. So I applied to 9 T14s, and then 10 others. Of those others, two were UT and Vandy. Why is this a thread, theres a ton of reasons. I live between syracuse and buffalo. Do I want to get sucked into those shitholes? no. So im getting out of dodge. Im a splitter so Im fishing for money everywhere. All of the schools I applied to are on the east coast (or just into the midwest). If you dont live in a legal market, you apply to schools in markets you could see yourself in.

2.2 Why could you see yourself in the markets that you apply to?

Some of us are 2.4/164/ 30 year old non-traditional / Puerto Rican applicants who have no idea who the f will accept them!
Okay, its pretty much just me in this boat, but I needed to cast a wide net.

Re: People who apply to non T-14s in a whole bunch of states
I did this, but I admit it was a waste of money. I applied late (following a December retake), so I was unsure how my cycle would turn out. However, as I found out, if I didn't gain acceptances to T14 + Vandy/Texas/UCLA/USC, I would have reapplied next cycle.
ETA: I know Veyron's trolling, but I thought I'd give an honest answer, anyway.

The fact that Veyron is concerned with what OLs are doing speaks volumes. Poor guy.
