UVa Vs UMich for Federal Gov't jobs
Hello all,
Currently deciding between UVa and UMich (both at sticker). Aspirations for Federal Gov't work, specifically DOJ. Any specific advantages to either law school for individuals aspiring for prestigious federal work?

Both do very well, but I think UVa has a slight edge and a great advantage with proximity to DC. You can drive to a DOJ open house, let alone an interview.

This. I think it's the tiebreaker on otherwise comparable schools.showNprove wrote:Both do very well, but I think UVa has a slight edge and a great advantage with proximity to DC. You can drive to a DOJ open house, let alone an interview.

The proximity to DC probably gives UVA an edge.

You should get money at Michigan based on the numbers in your profile (probably 54k over 3 years).

+1 This will likely make the difference. Though at equal money the proximity would favor UVA but it is not 54k worth of a difference at least to me.bdubs wrote:realpolitik88 wrote:Hello all,

I'd go UVA. But realize that the grades that you get once you get there are the real deciding factor. DOJ is one of those things that's so selective that you almost can't set it as a goal until after you get a set of grades back. Divisions like Criminal get applications from the best of the best.
