Sure, if it's the best school you can get into. ITE you'll have to be at least top quarter to have a chance though.

I wouldn't consider anything less than a 50% chance at biglaw a good choice. Thus I don't consider USC a good choice for biglaw.

I heard that Boston College places it's median in biglaw, but is this correct?paulinaporizkova wrote:T12FutureLS10 wrote:Really... And no, USC is terrible for biglaw. Go T-14 or go home.

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility for a BC kid at median to get biglaw, but it is likely so rare that I wouldn't count on it.FutureLS10 wrote:I heard that Boston College places it's median in biglaw, but is this correct?

If you want a 50% shot at biglaw, don't go to USC. However, it's a better option for biglaw than any non T18/T25/whatever. That was the point I was trying to make.

yes, BC might send some median kids to biglaw, but chances are their daddies are partners at those firmsbk187 wrote:I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility for a BC kid at median to get biglaw, but it is likely so rare that I wouldn't count on it.FutureLS10 wrote:I heard that Boston College places it's median in biglaw, but is this correct?

This is about right, although accounting for clerkships and other prestigious pi I'd say cornell is right about 50%. Below that, undoubtedly, less than half the kids are getting biglaw or equivalent. A bc or usc kid at median might get biglaw but it'll be due to something else and despite grades. With only the top ten to fifteen percent being safe.paulinaporizkova wrote:T12FutureLS10 wrote:Really... i really wish there were more SC kids on the boards so we could get a better idea of a school that must do pretty well in LA if loyola kids are still getting biglaw. Obviously california is kinda lagging though. As far as BC goes http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 4&t=141651 paints a much rosier picture than the above posters.

If you can get into USC you have a good shot to get into UT and Vandy. I would go to both of those over USC if you are biglaw or bust and can't make t14.

1) that poster went through biglaw hiring at least 5 years ago, when schools like columbia got almost everyone into biglaw.
2) we have hard data that proves his assumption of 50% of BC kids getting biglaw is false.

ITE only schools that give you a 50% chance (that is, above median) of BIGLAW are HYS, Columbia, NYU, and Northwestern.

definitely get that but he's also claiming that his firms summer classes are going back up to their 2007 levels. definitely anecdotal but still worth paying some attention to. definitely not trying to argue with you and would be really happy if you could point me to the hard data (does it have figures from OCI a few months ago or is it recent grads who are unemployed type stuff)Patriot1208 wrote:two thingsFlanAl wrote:i really wish there were more SC kids on the boards so we could get a better idea of a school that must do pretty well in LA if loyola kids are still getting biglaw.
