WUSTL ($) v. GWU v. Fordham v. Illinois ($$)
No preference on market other than big city (yes, including St. Louis) but desire for BIGLAW; however, I realize I'll probably end up near median (not that I won't strive for the top, obviously) so I can't count on anything and should limit debt.
Where would you go if in my shoes?

All of those schools are peer schools. Take the $ and run.

When do the schools after 15/18 (wherever you want to draw the line) stop being peer schools? Fordham (@34 tied with tOSU and U Washington) gets the advantage because of location but wouldn't appear to be in the same class as the other schools I listed. What's the next tier?duckmoney wrote:All of those schools are peer schools. Take the $ and run.

WUSTL, GW, and Illinois are all about the same. Fordham might actually be a bit below but it gets much better biglaw placement because of its NYC market. I'd still feel better about any of the above than Fordham.

Any guesses as to why the one person (so far) picked WUSTL over UIUC?duckmoney wrote:WUSTL, GW, and Illinois are all about the same. Fordham might actually be a bit below but it gets much better biglaw placement because of its NYC market. I'd still feel better about any of the above than Fordham.

I picked UIUC, but only because of the money factor.duckmoney wrote:WUSTL, GW, and Illinois are all about the same. Fordham might actually be a bit below but it gets much better biglaw placement because of its NYC market. I'd still feel better about any of the above than Fordham.
If these were all sticker, I'd say Fordham because it places so well in NYC. Even though it's ranked 34, it places much more like a T25 school (or better?). I think maybe the admissions data from their part-time program brought them down a little in rankings? The white shoe firm I worked for in New York recruited far more heavily from Fordham than the other three in this thread. Now, all are considered "acceptable" by BigLaw; they're all on the "approved" list, but Fordham is the only one on the OCI list for my old firm for any of their offices (which include Chicago and DC).

Fordham (maybe GW) for maximizing chance at biglaw while committing financial suicide.
Illinois for the best financial decision.
Take time off, ED to NU for best chance at biglaw while not committing financial suicide.
