New US News Rankings
May be a stupid question, but anyone know when the new US News and World Report rankings are released? Any predictions on if/how rankings will change??

In terms of predictions, the only real data we have to go by are the 2013 medians: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=128236
Based purely on those numbers, one could argue that NYU and Duke will gain ground (both +1 on LSAT median) and Berkeley (-1) will lose some. So, I'll predict that NYU supplants Chicago again as #5, Boalt drops below Penn, and Duke ties UVA again at #10.

When do new building get counted? I know the middle all have new buildings coming, probably keeping them where they are.

Penn's new building is going to be nice, but the construction is certainly an eyesore on Sansom.

No one walks down Sansom. So it's ok.

Predicting FSU jumps UF based solely on the Governor's Cup victory back in November. UM drops down to tie with Stetson.
Hmm, this whole "make up rankings" thing is fun.

Re: New US News Rankings
LSN makes it look like we're shooting for a 168 median, but Illinois definitely is as well so who knows if that's doable. Vandy moving to a 169 creates a to be filled at 168, but WUSTL probably has a little bit of an inside track against Illinois due to private v. public, funding for scholarships, and location. If the admissions office is smart, they'll sacrifice some of the huge class size to which they've expanded over the past few years in order to make a numbers jump more manageable. Pretty entertaining to keep tabs of on LSN every so often, it's like some kind of pointless horse race. I bet we'll at least be tied with USC this year though.thexfactor wrote:hopefully wustl jumps usc

Whatever school I decide to attend will certainly jump at least 3 spots. When USNWR sees my awesomeness radiating from campus they won't be able to stop themselves.NoleinNY wrote:Hmm, this whole "make up rankings" thing is fun.
Edit: To clarify, that means if I attend Yale it will jump from 1 to -2. Out of respect for my incredible aura USNWR will leave -1, 0, and 1 blank.

Zero. Harvard's hiring spree plus the new wasserstein building ended that possibility.Casey2889 wrote:chance that SLS reclaims #2?

Re: New US News Rankings
SLS just built a new building as well, and made a big hire in october (donohue from YLS). considering that SLS has a smaller faculty, i think this is fairly significant. early returns from LSN additionally suggest that LSAT median is rising (from 170 to 171), which traditionally has been holding the school back. i think it could jump.tkgrrett wrote:Zero. I have to echo r6's question about when new buildings are counted. Wasserstein Hall isn't open yet and won't open for another year. Will that count for this year's rankings?tkgrrett wrote:Zero. Re: New US News Rankings
The rankings between HYS are driven almost entirely by per student spending. I dont think a point increase in LSAT median would make much of a diff.Casey2889 wrote:SLS just built a new building as well, and made a big hire in october (donohue from YLS). considering that SLS has a smaller faculty, i think this is fairly significant. early returns from LSN additionally suggest that LSAT median is rising (from 170 to 171), which traditionally has been holding the school back. i think it could jump.tkgrrett wrote:Zero.
