Advice on which law school...
If anybody has some helpful advice on whether or not to apply to the following schools (not whether to go to law school at all), please let me know.
My stats are 2.79 with a very strong upward trend (due to illness), and LSAT scores of 160, 160, 153. I went to a top 50 undergrad and have very strong recommendations, essay, and employment history.
FL- University of Miami, Stetson University, Florida International University
CA- Santa Clara University, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco, Chapman University, California Western, Whittier
Other- University of Denver, Michigan State University, University of Hawaii, Indiana University- Indianapolis, University of New Mexico (Probably will attend a FL or CA school though)
I already have employment in Florida lined up, and I can afford to go to any of these schools. Thanks!

Yeah, I think University of Miami or Stetson University would be my best bet. I'm not sure how good FIU prepares you... but $15k is hard to beat (versus the other schools I can get into).

I have heard some good things about FIU, but if Miami limits you to South Florida, then i imagine that FIU would probably limit you to Miami itself, at least until you have established yourself.

Re: Advice on which law school...
I'll go visit UM and FIU to get a feel. I'm from Florida so I don't mind staying in Miami. I've spoken with a couple highly successful attorneys who were adamant that once you enter practice, nobody cares or even asks where you went to law school (very different from the typical TLSer opinion). Of course, I'm not very interested in joining a large firm (where ranking is more important), and I'll probably open a practice or join a small firm after I graduate.
Thanks for the advice!

I am agreeing with the quoted poster and saying that your other options aren't even worth considering in comparison.capnb wrote:Pretty strange grammar...not sure what you're trying to say.
You have a job in Florida lined up after graduation. It won't matter where you go to school considering you have that job already lined up, grab the biggest scholarship you can and try to get the stipulations removed from it. Since you already have a job, minimizing debt is the key thing to do now.

I see, I wasn't sure if you were saying the quoted poster was wrong and everyone else was wrong or if the quoted poster was right and everyone else was wrong.
Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if I agree that nothing else matters other than tuition if you have a job lined up, but I see your point.

With the schools you are considering, tuition is all that matters at this point. None of the schools are good enough to open any additional doors for you. What will change things down the road is that first job you have and how well you do at it.capnb wrote:Thanks for the advice.
