DC has few jobs and is ultra competitive.
UIUC/WUSTL/IU-B are all in the midwest so the major market there (Chicago) is probably worse than DC, though the competition is less.
The best way to go would be to go to a school that can get you NYC as that is the easiest market, something like BU/BC if you can't slang Cornell with your stats.
