Thongin' out vs. long underwear
Trying to choose between a New England environment and a southern coastal school. They are ranked very closely, both have great programs, both are similarly priced......almost identical, except for location (and their respective implied lifestyles).
Through the fall, winter, and spring, I wonder if I'll have enough spare time in law school to make the obvious choice of thongin' out on the beach, instead of freezing my Yankee ass off.
If there is no spare time, coin toss.
You decide.

Useless without what the schools actually are. Also whether is a pretty shitty way to pick schools.

How do you, a 20 something year old, not already know whether you like cold weather or warm weather? Seems like you like the warm southern coastal. Go there.

Re: Thongin' out vs. long underwear
Actually in my 30's. I know I like warmer weather, and thongin' out on the beach, but given the rumor that law students have next to no social life, I'm wondering if it should even be much of a factor.bk187 wrote:This is the serious answer.rad law wrote:Ok, shitty way to pick schools.magicman554 wrote:What school doesn't matter. So... if there is NO difference between schools (which I doubt) and the only difference is weather.. decision made. Why SHOULDN'T it be a factor.magicman554 wrote: Actually in my 30's. Re: Thongin' out vs. long underwear
Go where you'll be happier. It'll help relieve the stress. If weather matters a lot to you, certainly let that be a factor. Also consider where you want to live afterwards... would you rather live in a New England environment or a Southern Coastal one after graduation? If all things are truly equal, you let it be the deciding factor...magicman554 wrote:Trying to choose between a New England environment and a southern coastal school. Sounds like you'd want the Southern Coastal.

Make sure that the school you pick is located in a place where you want to stay long term. I can't think of a "Southern Coastal" LS with any mobility.

Technically, "thongin' out" can be defined as an event, wherein participants either wear them or enjoy the company of others who are thongin' out in a more literal sense. I picture myself on a beach, sippin' daiquiris, surrounded by thongin' female classmates.

Re: Thongin' out vs. long underwear
It is highly unlikely that there is no real difference between the schools besides weather, because clearly the difference in weather means different location, and unless we're talking about Harvard vs. Stanford, this means that you need to think about one of the most important factors of all: where do you want to work when you graduate?
Going to school in Cali when you grew up in Minnesota and want to work in North Carolina ain't real smart. So you need to think about location, not the weather.

Okay, to make it easier, I'm talking Duke vs. Cornell. Both have shots at NYC Biglaw, which is what I want. But thongin' out is the ascendant consideration. So, stick to weather.romothesavior wrote:It is highly unlikely that there is no real difference between the schools besides weather, because clearly the difference in weather means different location, and unless we're talking about Harvard vs. Stanford, this means that you need to think about one of the most important factors of all: where do you want to work when you graduate?

I'd take Duke for the better shot at NYC biglaw. Also, if you already have acceptances at these places, you should get somewhere even better.
