Rankings Aside, What's the Worth in a Big Ten School? Forum

I've been hearing that Big Ten Schools carry with them a "Big Ten Network." Aside from the rankings, what benefits are there in attending a Big Ten School?

Most Big 10 schools are regarded as the top school in their state, especially among non lawyers. (OSU, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and coming soon Nebraska) An OSU grad practicing in Ohio gets more lay respect than a UPenn grad working in Ohio. But most people in Ohio think UPenn is a regional campus of Penn State.
