Did I miss a good school to apply to?
3.05/165. Non-Trad with "hero" experience.
Want to see if I missed any schools y'all think I should apply to.
Don't list Cali, the wife don't want to go there. Don't list any schools in Miss, Bama, Arkansas... wife don't want to live there either.
Applied in Canada.
Applied to:
U of Maryland
Cardozo
American
W&L
W&M
Will.Mitchell
Tulane
UNM
UofHouston
MSU
Hofstra
UNM
Georgia State
Penn State
Temple
Drexel
And a couple others I can't think of right now.
Any suggestions for schools for me? Employment prospects (regionally) are important... as is the chance of $$$.
Also, if MW posts in here, just ignore her. I want actual answers.

Firefighter.... kind of a joke, because it really is just a job. But maybe an adcomm would think it was worth an itty bitty boost.FuManChusco wrote:What exactly is this hero experience you speak of?

Haven't looked at LSN, but off the top of my head:
Other state schools, i.e. UConn, UNLV, UNC?

You'll probably get $ at SMU. If you would consider living in Dallas, request a fee waiver and send them an app.

Hmmm..... I have to admit that if I had to live in Texas that San Antonio or Austin would be my preferences. But, it is only 3 years before I can move there (or even a year if I can transfer to UT). I'll add it. Thanks buddy.Thirteen wrote:You'll probably get $ at SMU. If you would consider living in Dallas, request a fee waiver and send them an app.

I thought the same thing, but I love living in Dallas (I'm a 1L at SMU). I moved here after being in Austin for 10 years, and don't have many complaints about the city. Make sure to send in an app before Jan. 1.firemedicprelaw wrote:Hmmm..... I have to admit that if I had to live in Texas that San Antonio or Austin would be my preferences. Just a word of warning: Austin and San Antonio are very difficult legal markets to break into, particularly if you want biglaw. Nevertheless, SMU is solid for Dallas placement.firemedicprelaw wrote:Hmmm..... I have to admit that if I had to live in Texas that San Antonio or Austin would be my preferences. This. Statistically, Austin is a closed market for those who aren't UT graduates or T14 graduates. Plus, don't ever bank on transferring to UT. It's notoriously difficult; every cycle, people who successfully xfer into the upper reaches of the T14 are routinely denied xfer admission to UT.JazzOne wrote:Just a word of warning: Austin and San Antonio are very difficult legal markets to break into, particularly if you want biglaw. If you're interested in the Dallas legal market though, SMU definitely a solid choice.

Re: Did I miss a good school to apply to?
Not sure if you want the PNW (I see that you didn't list any schools in that area in your OP), but you're above the median of UW's LSAT. You might consider shooting them an application, especially if you can get a fee-waiver. There are several UW Law students on this site who routinely sing it's praises. And I could see why. Arguably the best law school in the PNW, so job prospects are usually significant.
Just keep in mind, the PNW legal market is notoriously difficult to break into post-graduation without extremely good ties to the area (usually developed before LS). Also, not much chance of $$$ with your numbers. But they might be looking for those with hero experience.
Appreciate your public service, btw. I can't imagine the chutzpah it takes to run into a burning building.

with that gpa you have basically no shot at UW, unless you're a resident.patrickd139 wrote:Not sure if you want the PNW (I see that you didn't list any schools in that area in your OP), but you're above the median of UW's LSAT. If OP were straight out of UG, I would agree. However, UGPA seems to matter less the more WE you have. Not sure if OP has enough WE to overcome the low GPA, but it might be worth a shot, especially if the app is free.with that gpa you have basically no shot at UW, unless you're a resident.

I would apply to every school ranked between ~20-40. Tell your wife to suck it up, too, because you're pretty competitive for UCD/UCH and given your numbers those might be really good choices for you.
