List of electives provided by each law school?

Post by taxguy » Sun Oct 24, 2010 8:28 pm

Is there a site where I can see the number of electives offered by each law school without having to go to each law school's web site individually?

Electives? You mean every single class that isn't mandatary?
Are you really asking for a list of every single non-mandatory class by school?
Classes can fluctuate with professors & this list would be a disaster to maintain..

No, I simply want the number of courses offered by the law school and NOT the name of each course. Thus, Harvard would have so many courses etc.

I'm afraid to ask, but what would you do with this information if you had it?

You could go by largest school weighted against student-faculty ratio to come out with an approximate of who has the most courses. Just an idea to narrow your search if you choose to check each one individually.

Well, my son will NOT get into a top law school with his LSAT score. Whether he should go to law school with that is NOT the question that I am asking. He has a guaranteed job once he graduates. However, I would like to find law schools that have a lot of electives that he can choose in order to tailor his educaation. More electives usually means more choices.

LOL, I had to laugh at the helicopter reference;however, being an attorney who is also well connected, I can do a much better job of researching choices before my son makes any decisions. Since I am also paying for this education, I believe in being a well-informed consumer. When you pay 150K for something, I will bet your attitude about this will be the same as mine.

When your son grows up to be a pansy, I will bet your attitude about this will be the same as mine. You seriously gonna hold his hand through grad school?

Electives offered at individual schools are really not that important.

1. Electives are something that vary a lot from semester to semester; there is no guarantee that any elective will even be offered while at the LS.
2. In general, there are enough "core" but not required courses that you need to take that there won't be that much opportunity for true electives.
