T4 full ride or T2 at $20k a year?
Which would you choose? Attend the T4 with a full ride scholarship (conditional on staying in the top 1/3 of the class) or attend a T2 at sticker? Hypothetically . . . (not looking for re-take advice, just which would you choose).
If it matters, I'm looking for as little debt as possible because I want to get into prosecuting or other public sector work.
In addition to voting, please explain your reasoning.

It depends. Are we talking about TTT's in overcrowded markets?

T2 is the only school in its market and its my first-choice school (even above Tier 1's). The T4 is in a shitty market, and is the lowest ranked among 7 other schools in the market. I wouldn't even want to work in that city anyway after graduation.bk187 wrote:It depends. Are we talking about TTT's in overcrowded markets?

But I feel like I would be foolish to turn down the opportunity to go to law school for free.xyzzzzzzzz wrote:then there is no question...angiej wrote:T2 is the only school in its market and its my first-choice school (even above Tier 1's). The cost of the T2 is 20k? Is that correct?
I would go with T2 based solely on the fact that there is no guarantee that you will be in the top 1/3 of your class at the T4. I’d take Rutgers at sticker over Pace or Albany full ride any day of the week.

Yes, its in-state for me and its a terrific school that is by far my top-choice.deadhipsters wrote:angiej wrote:Which would you choose? 20k a year before col expenses = 60k in debt. 60k in debt with poor job prospects > no debt and no job. Or no debt and maybe a job. Unless you have connections to the market you want to work in, I think the t4 is a gamble.angiej wrote:But I feel like I would be foolish to turn down the opportunity to go to law school for free.xyzzzzzzzz wrote:then there is no question...angiej wrote:T2 is the only school in its market and its my first-choice school (even above Tier 1's). The cost of the T2 is completely justified due to it being your desired market and having a higher chance of landing you a job.

This is pretty much what I wanted to hear. I don't want to think I'm crazy for turning it down, but I only applied as safety. I had no clue they'd even consider me for a full ride.xyzzzzzzzz wrote:20k a year before col expenses = 60k in debt. 60k in debt with poor job prospects > no debt and no job. The only connection in the T4 legal market I would have is the fact I have a family member who is the assistant (and has been for 20 years) to a circuit court of appeals judge who seems to adore me. That's it.

and I really want to live in the city of the T2. I would LOATHE having to be in the T4 school city. I'd be miserable for 3 years.bk187 wrote:This is easy.angiej wrote:T2 is the only school in its market and its my first-choice school (even above Tier 1's). Any chance I could use the T4 scholly as leverage with the T2? Or is that quite a stretch?

Just gotta put this out there:
Is the market Miami? Sounds like a situation down here in this market with FIU and UF.

Two voters have chosen to take the T4 at the full ride . . . I wish they would contribute to the discussion or at the least PM Me.

Probably something like Michigan State versus some Chicago T4.
While the full ride is "free," do you really think that the cost in job prospects and being forced into a market you dislike is worth $60k?

Mich State is T3, but your sorta close.bk187 wrote:Probably something like Michigan State versus some Chicago T4.

Your right, its def worth paying the $60k to be at my first choice school and in the market I want to be in. And who knows . . . maybe they will offer me something too, though I doubt it. I'm at their median.

^Voted before I saw this. Attending a T4 in a market you don't want to work is typically a terrible idea.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
