Oxford Law...way to T14?

Post by testmachine45 » Tue Jul 20, 2010 2:12 am

How easy is it to get into Oxford Law? Is it like every other british program where they just let you in if you pay? Thinking about hitting up Oxford and then doing an LLM at a T14. Easiest route I can think of and guranteed prestige.

Sounds like guaranteed zero prestige.

The vast majority of state bar exams don't allow you to take them without a US JD, even if you have an LLM... one of the exceptions is New York state

also, Oxford and other British Universities don't have programs equivalent to a US JD program (more so structured like an LLB, where students entering university begin studying to become a lawyer)... I know there are some postgrad programs out there, but this is by no means guaranteed 'prestige'

you said it yourself... if prestige means that all you need to get in is a checkbook and a pulse, then by all means

No. No LLM is prestigious and Oxford is not a prestigious law degree in the United States.

Yeah it's hard to get a 'prestigious' job in the US with an LLB + LLM. Far harder than w a JD.

Also getting into Oxford to study law as an american is going to be harder than getting into t14.
