yeah, that really is the question here. So do you like the region where you are or do you prefer california? And even then, how is OCI at UCLA for transfers presently?

Wait...T15% means you have to be in the T15% to maintain your scholarship, or it means you're so unbelievably cocky and sure of yourself that you are certain you will rank in the top 15% of your class?
Just seeking clarification. okay thanks.

Just re-read/realized this myself...is OP a rising 2L, or an exceedingly cocky 0L? The Choosing a Law School forum placement suggests the latter?Regionality wrote:Wait...T15% means you have to be in the T15% to maintain your scholarship, or it means you're so unbelievably cocky and sure of yourself that you are certain you will rank in the top 15% of your class?

Ohhhhhh...well in THAT case:
Where do you want to work (and is that where your T45-50's located)?

OP, I know where you are at, and am pretty closely ranked to you, but decided against the transfer. But that decision was in no small part due to the fact that I like the region, that I have good contacts, and that I have personal attachments I am unwilling to leave. What are your considerations?

My $0.02: if you are going to school in a region in which you would be OK with living, then it'd be rather foolhardy to give up your somewhat stellar 1L performance + lack of debt to attend a non-T14. Also, how is 2 yrs at UCLA $60k? In-state + COL is more than that, and transfers don't get schollies. Right?UnKnO wrote:my bad...rising 2L...oci at current school is far from stellar. will work wherever i am able to find a job....who doesnt like cali, though. thanks for the responses
Edit: Yeah just checked...in-state's 35k + COL. From whence this "$60k" talk?

GOT IT! It was secret answer #3.
Well I say UCLA for sure. You've already gotten a free year of law school, and UCLA is worth close to sticker and to some sticker for all 3 years anyway...and now you'll only have to pay for 2 years to get a UCLA law degree. Plus, the degree is portable beyond Cali to a certain degree (and you get in-state after 1 year there).
But out of curiousity, what's your T45-50 school?

OCI looks pretty scary at the moment...love the city my current school is in, not so much the region...waiting to here from some other schools that would probably make the decision a little easier, if they came through. l

I guess Tulane. New Orleans is awesome but LA has 3rd tier legal market.

question though, how are you swinging UCLA at only 60 for two years? You got a scholarship along with the acceptance?

i have some money to pay for most, but not all, of the tuition...i would not pay sticker for two years there...no matter how sweet it would be to live in LA for a few years (love to surf)

It's Tulane, and OP agree, New Orleans is great, and OCI is scary, but it's scary at a lot of places

I'm sorry...I'm either extremely thick or you're being kind of vague (or both?). How won't you be paying sticker at UCLA for 2 years? Do you mean you wouldn't take loans to pay sticker there for 2 years?UnKnO wrote:i have some money to pay for most, but not all, of the tuition...i would not pay sticker for two years there...no matter how sweet it would be to live in LA for a few years (love to surf)

think that its that OP has money to pay off some, leaving 60k in loans

I mean...that's still sticker. Spending your own money as opposed to spending borrowed money is still a dent in the good ole estate...UnKnO wrote:correct...60k in debt.... will pay for the rest with hard earned money.

I think I'd probably sit tight. But that's me, and I don't hang 10 (as evidenced by the "I don't hang 10" reference to surfing).UnKnO wrote:correct...60k in debt.... will pay for the rest with hard earned money.
