UTulsa($-25k) vs UPitt Vs Brooklyn vs kent(IIT)

Post by arorar86 » Wed Jul 07, 2010 12:36 am

Is it better for me to go to UTulsa which is a 3rd tier university and save 25k a year or go to one of the other three without any scholarship.

For full tuition? I'd rather just sell myself into indentured servitude now and save the the 3 years.

Rad for $5 an hour I'll F5 the TLS homepage and tell TTT 0Ls to retake for you. Yes?

Gotta disagree w/ rad w/out more info. Not everybody can get a great LSAT score and Pitt is a very good school and gives its grads decent job prospects.

like i said, more information is needed. i agree, op should retake and get a better selection for himself but if i was absolutely forced to choose between those schools i'd pick pitt. in-state tuition attainable (albeit not easily) after 1L, col is cheap, flagship school in it's particular market, and the highest ranked besides the scam known as brooklyn law.

I didn't really prepare that much for the LSAT had only 3 weeks to prepare for it. got a 159 and have a 3.34 GPA electrical engineering from Purdue. Also gave the exam in june and sent in my application last month, so my chances of getting a scholarship were anyway very very low at pitt/brooklyn/kent. I know i can easily do better if i retake but i don't think I want to wait for another year.

just to add to that I gave it late because i had this whole plan of starting next fall but circumstances are such that I have to start this fall.
Also "besides the scam known as brooklyn law" hadn't heard this before.

Brooklyn is almost always auto-no, unless you have a near-full ride. Kent is alright if you have full ride or close to it. Pitt is fine if you are instate with some scholarship money. Don't know anything about Tulsa.

So my bet is on retake.

I am sorry to say that these all are not very good options at all. I would perhaps consider Brooklyn/Kent if it was a full scholarship. Retake and reapply to a t14 (or perhaps a t25), otherwise, re-consider law school.

I just think in this economy, a law degree from anything lower than a t30 is VERY VERY Risky

I know I'm being pessimistic, but I think it's in your best interest to take a look at the profile for Pittsburgh before forming a final decision.

if I go to tulsa(where i am barely paying anything anyways) and study my ass off as I plan to do, can't I apply to a t25 and transfer next year. Or transferring from a 3rd tier is gonna be very difficult?

Are you from that area? Do you have ties to that area? Do you want to practice in that area?

DO NOT GO TO TULSA EXPECTING TO TRANSFER

Also, what are the stipulations on your scholarship?

From what I hear Kent is fine with decent scholly.

Then definitely retake. More than 50% chance you'll lose the money.
