Is Georgetown substantially better than GW?
I assume (and this is a big assumption) that the schools ranked 1-19 self select into NYC, the West Coast, DC, and their primary markets. As far as schools out of the T-14, I assume that UCLA and USC places mostly in SoCal, and I'm willing to bet that >75% of UT-Austin grads choose to stay in TX. I don't really know much about Vanderbilt and WUSTL.
That said, within DC, is Georgetown the undisputed top dog (other higher ranked schools not-withstanding) or are GULC and GW viewed as pretty much peer schools with regard to placement in DC (analogous to whatever difference there is between NYU and Columbia). I'm sure there is a large UVa contingent in DC as well, but UVa carries far further into the South and into NYC than I've heard GULC does.
Any input?

Yes, they are in a different league. More akin to Columbia/NYU undergrad.

I would, but the answer doesn't matter as much as the rationale.megaTTTron wrote:Put up a poll.

UVA is huge in DC. HUGE.
GW certainly does well placing into DC, but its not on par with Georgetown. So....yes, it is.

Yeah, the much better school with the scholarship is better than the other one without.rejectmaster wrote:Another twist - is GULC 20k/yr scholarship better than GW?

Is GULC worth forgoing a 20k/yr scholarship at GW?

GULC is favored, no doubt about it. Nearly twice the percentage of the class got biglaw (at least prior to this economy. 45% vs. 25%).

Blah, ok. Remember at 20k/yr at GW you're still paying just under 50,000 a year. So...not as big of a difference as one might think.rejectmaster wrote:I worded that improperly. I meant to say -Pearalegal wrote: did I just fall for a flame?

Truth. I guess its pretty much the same as getting a year free, though.Pearalegal wrote:Blah, ok. Remember at 20k/yr at GW you're still paying just under 50,000 a year. In any event, I'm just going to rosily assume that the top 15% at GW find some kind of job, while accepting that UVa and GULC pwn it.
