What schools should I be looking into?

Post by thedude221 » Fri Jun 25, 2010 10:01 pm

I just got a 169 on the LSAT and expect to have a gpa between 3.95-3.97 following Summer Semester. I attend Georgia State University and am majoring in political science and sociology. What schools can I realistically get into? Where should I direct my focus? How much grant money can I get if I look to more T-30 schools rather than T-14? Also, can I get gainful employment if I were to not go to a T-14 school? I'm sure there are a lot of posts like this but I'd appreciate any incite I can get.

Retake, boost LSAT score by a few points and enjoy Harvard, Yale or Stanford.

This cycle. My numbers weren't much worse. Also, I'm pretty sure one of my profs wrote an amazing LOR.

If you want money, GW's ED (full ride) would almost certainly take you.

I wouldn't bind to GW. You have a strong chance to get money from the T-14.

I totally agree, I was just saying that for someone who is debt adverse this is an option to consider (especially if you are interested in IP)

edit: although the OP is obviously not a TECH guy so the IP is out (unless he loves copyright!)

I have almost identical numbers and was in at UVA ($30k), Duke ($45k + $3k dual degree stipend), Michigan ($45k), and Georgetown (withdrew before FA). All numbers are over three years except that stipend at Duke. I'm not sure how it would've worked since I withdrew there. I was WLed at Penn, Chicago, & Columbia and rejected at Berkeley. I can't really help you with the T30 schools. Only applied to one school below the T14, William & Mary, and I withdrew before a decision because I'd already heard from a couple of the schools above.

Texas? Vanderbilt? Are you picking these schools at random? You've made some asinine posts today.

These scholly $$ are similar to what I got, so probably a good indication of what you're likely to get.
