NYU or Columbia
Overall, which school would you say is better and why?

Re: NYU or Columbia
Consensus seems to be that Columbia places better (disclaimer: I'm a 0L and I also never really looked at either as I don't have the scores). However, NYU is in a MUCH better part of the city. Even the slightest edge in money would probably be enough for me to pick NYU.

Re: NYU or Columbia
obviously, the two both place well in nyc. however, columbia has a better reputation nationally, especially as far as biglaw goes. i'm too lazy to check stats, but i think columbia places better for clerking (i may be wrong though). the only reason i could see choosing nyu is if your primary interest is public interest work, or potentially something international.
but i still say columbia.
but i still say columbia.

Re: NYU or Columbia
Columbia has better placement and more prestige. That's not to say everyone should choose Columbia over NYU, though. The differences are small enough that personal fit should play a role.

Depends on your goals, personality and living preferences. The differences are small but they're real.

Go to NYU....
And I say this with all the objectiveness of an OP currently placed on Columbia's WL. So, no bias here

Re: NYU or Columbia
They place clerks at about the same rate, bottom of the T6.
Columbia places better in Biglaw, and has a much longer standing reputation than NYU as a top school.
NYU has a much bigger PI program because they stress it so much, and so you may prefer NYU if that's what you're interested in.

Re: NYU or Columbia
Better in what sense? Columbia holds an edge in basically everything except PI. But I'd say NYU wins as far as other factors go (such as perceived student body, location, etc.). I ended up deciding that the small difference in placement was outweighed by the non-placement related factors.
