Chicago Kent $$$ vs Maryland Sticker
offered 30K per year from Chicago-Kent vs. sticker at MD. i currently live in Chicago and have contacts here. not necessarily interested in BigLaw.
boils down to prestige vs. convenience + money. the possibility of transferring factors in as well; obviously I'll have better chances transferring up from MD than from IIT.

No brainer. Chicago Kent is a cool program that has made you a handsome offer.
Maryland is on the decline. There isn't much of a prestige divide. Also, you like Chicago.
Follow the money.

Originally from Virginia, been in Chicago last 5 years. Love Chicago, suspect I would love Baltimore as well. Management Consulting in health care sector for 3.5. While I'm not particularly interested in health care law, MD does have a top program in this area and my experience would undoubtedly benefit me if i chose to pursue it.
Career-wise I just don't think I could go back to sheer paperwork day in day out. I want to engage with clients and I want to be in court at least part of the time. Medical malpractice defense has been seeming more and more appealing, which indicates MD.
Honestly I guess I thought I would be getting into better schools, so letting go of even the slightly higher prestige factor at MD is rough.

MD in decline- ya was super disappointed in the rankings drop after I'd already applied.
What's peoples' feeling on the transfer issue. Assuming I can nail 1st year at IIT (obviously a big if), possible to transfer to, say U of Minnesota, Notre Dame, or even a Michigan?

Don't overestimate the value of specialty rankings.

IIT.
Once you're outside the T25 or so, it's best to follow the money. I'd go to a TTT for free over a lower-ranked T1 at sticker.
With that said, Chicago-Kent is severely underrated anyways. It's pretty much a peer to Maryland, so this should be a no-brainer.
