WHAT!! Admissions Staff diluting the
Premise: We as soon-to-be law students are bearing our souls on the TLS forum circuit. Law schools, because of their fury to move up the US News ranking, are desperately trying to undercut their competition and steal the most sought after applicants. Im curious what do you think the chances are that admissions staff will enter the forums to sway us to their respective schools?
Is this a reasonable question, or excessive cynicism?

I don't think this is likely. How much time do admin have to 1.) Figure out who the people on here are in real life. 2.) Try to persuade them to come to their school?
The only reason admin would come on here would be to weed out potential applicants and even that I think they are just too busy to bother with it.

Re: WHAT!! Admissions Staff diluting the
It is a fact adcoms come to these threads, some have even commented in them. I don't think any are trying to troll for their schools, just attempting to keep a finger on the pulse of the applicant pool and the current reputation regarding the school.

As well as to clear up misconceptions, something at least Yale's Asha has done. I think that's pretty cool.

I think that if you posted something really terrible, perhaps something illegal or unethical and then made no secret of your identity and an adcom found out about it, then I think it could hurt your chances at that school.

Having worked for a PR firm that represents four top universities with law schools... I can tell you that it is already happening. College Confidential, TLS, and many other forums are now one of the major marketing tools being utilized to spread good word of mouth about schools and to work up hype.

When touring certain law schools, certain adcoms let me know that they knew who I was on here because I was posting in their school's threads. But it wasn't a bad thing, from what I gathered.

If you were in admissions and on this forum, would you troll for your school no matter what? Or would you only vote for it in the case of posters who seemed like nice people?
For that matter, for those who have a law school, what say you? Do you always recommend it? Only if you'd want to deal with that person in classes? Or is your own position irrelevant, you only look at what the poster asking for advice is looking to achieve?

Do admission staffers likely read the board? Yes.
Do they pose as fake law students to try and troll for their school? Probably not. And even if they did, most people would probably be able to tell a troll/flame post (which happen fairly frequently). In order have any real impact it would take a LOT for an adcomm to fake (though it might be a fun job if it actually existed; "professional internet troll" ).

Why are you guys so quick to dismiss the OP?
You really expect me to believe that Operasoprano is a real law student and not an account run by Fordham's admissions office

yes, but also some new not or well known (forget the name) school's adcom created a Q&A thread, and then was scared off by MTalTautology wrote:Peter North is Dean Asha?

They certainly go on here often enough, but as for me, I freaking wish Fordham paid me money. They do not. Also, I am very cranky on occasion, like after my property final.D. H2Oman wrote:Why are you guys so quick to dismiss the OP?
