does a U Chicago social life really suck that much?
I'm convinced that when I'm a law student, I'll still find time to eat out a few nights a week and head out on the town for at least one of the two weekend nights. Lunches, dinners, and coffees will all be part of my routine. So, to me, it seems clear that the area is going to matter.
That's why I want to know, is U Chicago really as not fun as its reputation?

from what i've seen, students on here say it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be (and others say the stereotype's unwarranted)

There's not a whole ton to do in Hyde Park, and the people you have to do it with are, well...

Setting aside the joking aspect, law students at U of C are actually a fairly good looking bunch. I can easily think of a number of good looking people off the top of my head. Moreover, many of them - girls in particular - dress really well. I'm actually frequently ashamed at not being better put together when I come to school and see so many fashionably dressed people.DerrickRose wrote:There's not a whole ton to do in Hyde Park, and the people you have to do it with are, well...

Stereotype probably holds true for the UG population, but I defy just about anyone to compare our student body to a student body at any other T14 and claim that we come up short. I know a decent number of people at other schools, and I assure you we don't.

as someone visting Chicago for ASW this seems completely to apply to the undergraduate school. Even the glass menagerie tells you these people aren't hideous.DerrickRose wrote:There's not a whole ton to do in Hyde Park, and the people you have to do it with are, well...

Well, I know myself and two others who are coming from FSU, so we'll just have to bring the hotness with usTuckerMax wrote:If you think the people at this school are good-looking, Florida State will make you incontinent with excitement

Chicago is the third largest city in the US. UC is only 15-20 minutes outside of downtown. Make your experience what you want.

Naw, I don't run unless I'm being chased (even then--if I think I'll win if it's a fight, I'm not running). But I know someone, and you'll be pwnt.JollyGreenGiant wrote:*sits up*

Chicago is a cool town to live in. It is all what you make of it, just like any other large city. Some of the second tier cities (non T-10 cities) would probably get pretty boring. Can you imagine living in Ann Arbor for three years at our age?

What are the T10 cities? You sound like a "NLC or bust" person when it comes to cities.
