Elon vs West Virginia vs U Miami
I am stumped. Elon, WVU, and U Miami are my current choices. The problem is that I am from PA and want to work somewhere between Philadelphia and NY. I have not been admitted to any of the obvious choices. So which degree will carry the best in the market I am looking for? For what it is worth Elon gave me a good deal on $, but WVU and U Miami are sticker price. Which one? oh, and out of curiosity, does anyone have an idea of where Elon will be ranked?

Easy choice here is WVU. It will give you the best shot at PA at very little debt even though none of these are ideal for PA.
Miami at sticker is a horrible deal. Don't consider Elon unless you are fine with working in Greensboro for awhile. I'm not sure what its ranking will be but it is really irrelevant (probably Tier 4, maybe T3).

Retake/Reapply. Go to Temple or Penn State (or RU-C, Villanova, or whatever, follow the money) Don't go to some awful TTT, nor pay sticker to a T2 that won't place you in the market you want.

I cant retake the LSAT. I have 157, but the first two times I took it, I had to cancel. As it is I cant take it more than three times in two years. I have not been able to get a school to let me take it a fourth time.

What is your GPA? You should have had a shot at RU-C PT with a 157 and a halfway decent GPA. That should get you the region you want moreso than the schools you applied to and for MUCH cheaper as long as you live on the NJ side during law school. Did you apply there?evanmd wrote:DerrickRose wrote:Retake/Reapply. Miami has a pretty good alum base in the northeast (probably better than the non- FL south), but try for a philly school first.

Here is how it stands, I graduated from Drexel with a 3.35, but when LSAC combined it with the other school I went to it dropped to a 2.97. I am currently wait listed at Rutgers C, Rutgers N, Drexel, U Pitt, U Maryland, and Hofstra. Everywhere else said no. For what its worth, I also got accepted at New York Law School, but all I hear is that the place is a joke.keg411 wrote:What is your GPA? I'd recommend taking a year or two off, get some work experience, then reapply early to Penn State. I'm not sure about their admission process, but a "Why Penn" essay coupled with an extremely early admission could really help your chances.
Just out of curiosity, why did you have to cancel twice?

I'd just keep holding out hope for Rutgers or Drexel, given your geographical preference

The first time I got sick in the middle of the test, the second time I got railroaded in games.Steven Perry wrote:I'd recommend taking a year or two off, get some work experience, then reapply early to Penn State. This. Law is VERY regional. Don't go away to school expecting you can get back where you want to go. However, if you do decide to go away, talk to career services about placement in your desired market and see if they can put you in touch with alumni there because you need to make connections WAY early.pany1985 wrote:I'd just keep holding out hope for Rutgers or Drexel, given your geographical preference
