UMiami or Marquette (57K scholarship)

Post by Kwijiboe » Fri Apr 23, 2010 3:23 pm

I'm not sure what to do here.. Marquette fell out of top 100. UMiami went to up 10 spots to #60.

I got to visit Milwaukee(Marquette). Have not had chance to visit Miami. I have already put down a deposit at Marquette for 350$. UMiami is asking for a $500 deposit on May 5.. Ugh. Whats the better decision? Financial considerations are important, but I want to know if the rankings disparity is worth the bigger debt.

Where you want to ultimately end up working is a big consideration but (and I may be biased here because I'm from South Florida) UM is an amazing school in this area and I wouldn't think twice about attending UM over Marquette. It has great placement in the South Florida area. However, it really depends on where you want to work because I don't know how great your chances would be if you tried to get a job outside of South Florida coming from Miami. Just my $0.02. Oh and once you decide, be assured that you made the best decision and look forward to your years in law school and thereafter. Relax and enjoy the process! Good luck!!! :)

Where do you want to practice?

If Wisconsin, then go to Marquette. If Miami, I'd still say Miami wouldn't be worth sticker.

If neither of these, then retake the LSAT.

Marquette gave you 57k and Miami gave you nothing? Go to Marquette...but only if you are cool with practicing in Milwaukee. If not, retake.
