So I got waitlisted at Tennessee....
My goal is to practice in Nashville and if I don't come off UT's website, I'm looking pretty hard at Memphis. I'm in and I expect some scholarship from them. I also got in to Saint Louis with a $51k scholarship, but I don't think a SLU JD will play as well in Nashville as a Memphis JD because of alumni base and local name recognition.
Any flaw in this logic?

Memphis gets no love, huh? I work in Nashville, and your reasoning seems sound to me.

I agree with your logic.
I was also waitlisted at TN and accepted at Memphis. Right now I'm debating between Memphis and Cumberland, but I'm leaning towards Memphis just because it is so much cheaper. I hope to practice in North Alabama/Southern Tennessee.
As far as Memphis goes, I'm excited about the new building, but scared to move there after talking to people I work with about what a hell-hole the city is.
Has anyone visited or attended Memphis? Any wisdom on the school and the city would be greatly appreciated.

Many parts of Memphis are a hell-hole, but it is a great city. I have spent a lot of time in Memphis and if I could I had the chance working for a firm in Memphis would be ideal. When you first enter the city and go through downtown it can be depressing but areas west of the city are great. The closer you get to Arkansas the more impressive the area gets.bradlje0 wrote:I agree with your logic.

im actually from memphis, and am looking at memphis law school in case others don't go through. don't listen to the haters. memphis is a great city and i'd love to live and practice law here. my only concern is the prestige of the school itself. just wondering if it's worth getting a JD from memphis or not.....
