UMich $$ vs NYU $$
Which should I choose?
I'm not sure which legal market I want to work in. I know I want a big market (LA, DC, NYC). I'm thinking corporate law or perhaps a future transition into the realm of business....

This is a close call...the total cost difference, after the COL discrepancy, will probably be more like $35,000. While not an insignificant amount of money, it might be worth taking that hit if NYU is more your speed.
Have you visited either school? If you can manage, I would recommend visiting both and just going with what feels best. You've got two great options!

The COL discrepancy may well be larger than that, too. Mich is a fantastic school, but New York is the biggest of the big markets, and NYU has a very clear advantage in placement here. I'm not sure about the other markets.

NYU.
If it was sticker at NYU vs. $$ at Michigan, the choice might be different. But I think the CCN bump is worth the (relatively) small difference in debt.

True...NYU is probably more like $5k extra for living a year. And maybe the tuition is more too (not sure)? So I guess the total difference could be as high as $40-45k, depending...which is significant...but also could be "worth it" depending on what you want to do.
Where do you live now, OP? Any idea what kind of place you'd like to live during school or do you not really care? Your experiences at each school would be super different.

I'd pay ANYTHING, and we're talking about anything, including my mother's soul, to attend Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Between dueling freshmen, flying on my Nimbus, and taking my Hermione Granger into the Chamber Of Secrets after curfew, NYU couldn't pay me enough to choose them.

Wow who knew Michigan had such a generous scholarship program! Did you get the Dumbledore? or only a Snape?

The Dumbledore is a full ride, $75,000 is a Flitwick.
