Cardozo or Iowa?

Post by cg20 » Fri Mar 26, 2010 9:21 pm

I'm trying to decide between going to Cardozo or Iowa. I've been offered a full tuition scholarship from both, so they're even on the pricing. Iowa has a higher ranking, but I never saw myself living in the midwest and I'd like to practice in the east. Is there any reason that i should consider Iowa over Cardozo?

don't go to a regional school that isn't in the region you want to practice in.

The subtile lifestyle differences of those in NYC and those in Iowa could make this choice very difficult.....

I mean seriously... SERIOUSLY?!?!? Do you want to live in Iowa or NYC? I'm not saying one is better than the other, it's personal preference. But it should be easy to identify if you want to live in IOWA or NYC.

I think you have to look beyond regional preference here, just because Cardozo reportedly has such poor career prospects. I am hardly an expert on either of these schools, but if it were me, I'd probably choose the option that is most likely to get me a job.

1) Withdraw from Iowa
2) Give me your scholarship $$

Choosing where to live isn't the issue. I'd rather live in NYC, but does one offer better job prospects than the other. I could deal with living anywhere for three years, if I knew the rewards would be there later.

I wouldn't go to Iowa if you'd like to practice in the east. That's pretty tough to do from Iowa -- Iowa has weak placement on the coasts and in the bigger cities. If you'd like to practice in NYC, definitely Cardozo over Iowa. Anyway, I wouldn't pick Iowa if you're not wanting to practice in the midwest.
