Should I got to UGA (in state tuition) or HOWARD ($15k)?
I was accepted into UGA and given in-state tuition and I was accepted into Howard with a $15k a year scholarship... The scholarship for Howard now makes Howard less expensive than UGA. Where should I go?

Voted Georgia.
You wouldn't want to finish at median at Howard.

That makes sense so it would be fine to be median at UGA?FunkyJD wrote:Voted Georgia.

dude UGA is #1 in GA as far as GA-citizens are concerned.....
are you from GA / want to practice here?
yes it'd be fine to be median or less at UGA if you want to practice here. Sure median won't get you big law, but big law is a pretty low bet at any school nowadayz. Don't make your law school decision on big law chances.

Wouldn't say "fine," but finishing median at Howard when you paid for any amount of it may require years of therapy to come to grips with.justbeinreal1 wrote:That makes sense so it would be fine to be median at UGA?FunkyJD wrote:Voted Georgia.

I am from ga. I want to practice in DC, NY, or Cali. So far I've been accepted into Depaul with $15k scholarship, as well as Howard with same scholarship, UGA, Loyola Marymount, Mercer, and waitlisted for Cardozo and Fordham. Any suggestions?kyle wrote:dude UGA is #1 in GA as far as GA-citizens are concerned.....

Georgia, hands down. None of those schools will give you great odds at the portability you desire, but Georgia certainly is the most respected and will at least give you a chance if you do well.

I would go Georgia. Loyola is no guarantee of anything great in LA. Georgia's no guarantee of anything in DC, but the ceiling there is higher than Loyola's ceiling in LA, IMO. However slim the possibility, Georgia has placed some folks in some interesting clerkships in DC in recent years:justbeinreal1 wrote:I am from ga. I want to practice in DC, NY, or Cali. If you get into Fordham, take Fordham over any of these unless the cost is prohibitive.
I just don't think Howard w/ $15k is worth it. The risk of finishing median and being screwed as a result just isn't worth it. If you do well at Howard, you can do very well indeed ... but my strong impression is that the career potential drop-off if you don't do "very well" there is pretty steep, relative to other options. Others may correct if I'm mistaken, but that's been my impression.
